Magickal One, Litha is one week away. ☀️✨
Seven days until the longest day of the year. Seven days to gather, prepare, and create a space that will hold the energy of the Summer Solstice consciously and beautifully. And whether you have a dedicated altar room or a single shelf in a shared apartment, whether you have a collection of ritual tools or you’re starting from scratch, this guide is going to help you build something that feels genuinely alive. ☀️🌿
Today’s post is your complete, practical, step-by-step Litha altar guide. Not just a list of what to put on it, but why each element is there, what energy it holds, and how to arrange everything in a way that feels intentional rather than decorative. Because a Litha altar isn’t just beautiful. It’s a working tool. A physical anchor for the Solstice energy. A place that says: I know what day this is. I am here for it. ☀️🌿✨
“Your altar doesn’t have to be elaborate to be sacred. It has to be intentional. Even one candle, one crystal, and one flower placed with attention becomes a working Litha altar.” ☀️✨
Tuesday’s paid Litha Ritual Kit will take you through the full ceremony. Today we build the space. ☀️💜✨
🌿 Before You Begin — Setting Your Altar Intention
Every altar starts before you place a single object. It starts with intention. What is this altar for? ☀️✨
Take a moment before you begin gathering to answer these three questions. Write them down if you can:
Write your answers — even just a few words for each — on a piece of paper. This paper will go beneath your altar’s central crystal as the heartbeat of your Litha space. ☀️🌿✨
📍 Choosing Your Space
Your Litha altar can live anywhere. Here are some ideas for different home situations. ☀️✨
- A dedicated altar table or shelf: If you have one, clear it completely before Litha week and start fresh. A clean surface holds cleaner energy.
- A windowsill: Ideal for Litha because it catches the long summer light. A south-facing windowsill is particularly potent — south is Litha’s direction.
- A small tray or board: If space is limited, a beautiful tray gives you a portable, contained altar you can bring out for rituals and tuck away between them.
- Outdoors: A garden, balcony, or outdoor surface is a magnificent Litha altar location. On June 21st itself, the Sun is your altar’s centerpiece. ☀️🌿✨
Wherever you choose: cleanse the space before you begin. A sweep with a lavender bundle, a spritz of rosemary and water, or simply a few conscious breaths and the intention to clear and refresh the energy. ☀️✨
☀️ The Five Layers of a Litha Altar
Think of your altar as being built in five layers, from the foundation up. You don’t need every element in every layer — but this framework helps you build something cohesive and intentional. ☀️🌿✨
☀️ Three Litha Altars for Three Situations
Because not everyone has the same space, budget, or access to materials. All three are complete Litha altars. ☀️🌿✨
🌿 The Minimal Altar (5 minutes, no shopping required)
- One candle in any warm color — even a white tea light works
- One object that feels like summer or the sun to you — a shell, a stone, a flower from outside
- Your written intention on a piece of paper placed beneath the candle
- A glass of water set in a sunny window during the day to charge as solar water
That’s it. Light the candle on June 21st, read your intention aloud, let the candle burn, drink the water. A complete Litha practice. ☀️✨
🌟 The Beautiful Altar (an afternoon, minimal budget)
- Gold or yellow candle as the centerpiece
- One crystal — whatever you have that feels solar or warm
- Fresh flowers from a garden, market, or even a grocery store — sunflowers, marigolds, or whatever is in season
- A few gathered natural elements: leaves, a stone, a feather
- Your written intention beneath the crystal
- A small dish of honey or a piece of fruit as an offering
This altar can stay up all of Litha week, from the 15th through the 21st. Tend it daily with a moment of gratitude. ☀️🌿✨
✨ The Full Altar (for those who want all of it)
- Gold altar cloth with green accents
- Three candles: gold center, orange left, red right
- Central sunstone or citrine on top of your written intention
- Carnelian and amber flanking the central crystal
- Clear quartz point directed toward the central candle
- Fresh calendula, rose petals, and lavender scattered across the surface
- Oak leaves or branch at the rear
- A sun symbol as the focal point behind the candles
- A small mirror behind the central candle
- An offering bowl with honey or strawberries
- A bowl of water for solar charging
- Your journal at the base
- Frankincense incense burning beside the altar
Build this altar over the week before Litha, adding elements as you gather them. It becomes more powerful with each addition and each day of conscious tending. ☀️🌿✨
☀️ Tending Your Litha Altar Through Litha Week
A Litha altar is most powerful when it’s tended — visited consciously each day rather than set up once and ignored. Here is a simple daily practice for June 15–21. ☀️✨
☀️ On June 21st Itself — The Solstice Day
Here is a simple sequence for the day itself, even without a full ritual. Tuesday’s paid kit gives you the complete ceremony — but this works beautifully on its own. ☀️🌿✨
1. Wake as early as you can and go outside. Even for five minutes. Stand in the earliest light of the longest day. Breathe it in. This is Litha. This is the moment.
2. Return to your altar. Light all your candles. Place your solar-charged crystal in the center. Read your intention aloud. Say: “I stand at the peak. I am grateful. I am full. I am ready.”
3. Leave your altar tended through the day. Check in at noon if you can — light incense, stand in sunlight, or simply pause and acknowledge the peak of the solar year.
4. At sunset — the Sun’s farewell on the longest day — light your candles one final time. Sit with them until they burn out. As the last flame goes, say: “The light turns. The cycle is whole. What I have grown is real. I am grateful.”
5. Leave your altar up through June 29th, the Strawberry Full Moon. Let it hold the Litha energy through the lunar amplification that follows. ☀️🌿✨
📓 Reflection Prompts for Litha Week
Use these as you tend your altar each day. One prompt per day takes you through the week. ☀️✨
- Jun 15 (Mon): What intention am I setting at this Solstice, and what does it feel like in my body when I imagine it fully receiving the Sun’s energy?
- Jun 16 (Tue): What has genuinely grown in me in the first half of 2026? Not what I hoped would grow — what actually did?
- Jun 17 (Wed): Where in my life am I dimming my light or staying smaller than I’m capable of? What would full solar visibility look like for me right now?
- Jun 18 (Thu): What am I genuinely grateful for in this season? Not the big things — the specific, particular, sensory things.
- Jun 19 (Fri): What is one thing I am consciously beginning to hand to the dark half of the year — with trust rather than grief?
- Jun 20 (Sat): Cancer season begins today. Where does my heart most need tenderness and care as the Solstice approaches?
- Jun 21 (Sun — Litha): Standing at the peak: what does it feel like to be exactly here, exactly now? What is the feeling tone of this moment in your life? ☀️🌿✨
✨ A Note from Me to You
One week. One week until the longest day of the year.
I hope this guide helps you build something beautiful this week — not just an altar, but a space that holds your attention and your intention and your gratitude for the extraordinary fact of this season. The world is full of light right now. More light than at any other point in the year. And you get to stand in it consciously. ☀️
Tend your altar gently this week. Visit it each morning and evening. Let it accumulate Litha’s energy slowly, the way the long summer days accumulate light — unhurried, generous, overflowing. ☀️🌿✨
I’ll be right here with you. Tuesday brings the full Litha Ritual Kit. And Sunday June 21st — we celebrate together. ☀️💜✨

I've just created my altar, using hypericum flowers from the garden
This is amazing! I've been away from my craft for a long time, but I've recently felt like venturing back, and this guide was exactly what I needed to see right now. Thank you for your time and hard work. While I can't download the pdf for some reason, I can still open it and it's amazing! Much appreciated 💜
